Umeboshi Puree is made from salty pickled plums that originated in China over 3000 years ago. Our plums contain shiso, which is added during pickling to impart a reddish colour and natural flavouring that stimulates appetite and aids in maintaining an alkaline system. Good for an unsettled stomach, indigestion and morning sickness, our plums do not contain any artificial colourings, flavourings or sugar. Made by removing ume plum seeds and mashing the meat of the plum, it is used as a seasoning in cooking and can be used to make sushi, rice balls and a variety of delicious dips, salsa, sauces, salad dressings and seasoned vegetable dishes. Imparting a delicious tomato-like flavour, it also makes great tofu ricotta and is great on sweet corn.
